How to Beat

The Spurned Progeny is one of the bosses in Lords of the Fallen that causes players the most trouble, and that is mostly because folk don't know what to do here. That's fine, there's nothing explaining it to you in the game, but with a little know-how, this fight can be super easy. Here's hot to beat the Spurned Progeny easily.

In phase one, things are simple. Attack the Spurned Progeny's legs and avoid his attacks. If you stay more to his back area, he will occasionally try to sit on you, and this attack is easier to avoid than some of his others, so stay in that area.

If you stay in front of him, you will be subjected to a series of downward punches with decent area shockwaves that are a lot more difficult to contend with, so don't make things harder for yourself by hanging around in front of him waiting for a punch.

Be aware of what the boss is doing. When he punches the ground and creates the flaming shockwave, it is very important that you dodge through the barrier to avoid the damage, and when you see glowing spots beneath you, that's your tell to start moving and dodging the three eruptions that are coming.

Other than that, it's a pretty simple jump until the Spurned Progeny starts throwing up magma. Now you need to go up the steps onto one of the platforms above. Make use of ranged attacks until the Spurned Progeny has rejoined you there.

Now the aim of the game is to bait out attacks. The claw slams on the platform allow you to get a hit or two in on the Spurned Progeny's hands before he withdraws them, and when he lowers his head down to your level and performs three mouth hand crawling attacks in a row, you get lots of time to get a fair few hits in on it before it retracts.

Other than that, stay calm and avoid what's coming. The sideways claw swipe, fiery shockwave and channelled fireball are the main things you need to worry about, as these require you to actively dodge or run for cover as needed.

Eventually, the Spurned Progeny will cover your platform with magma, and all you have to do is reposition to a different platform and continue doing the same thing you did on the last one. Remember to get some bonus damage in with ranged attacks while he makes his way over.

When the Spurned Progeny is near death, he will stand in the middle of the arena and repeatedly channel the giant fireball that requires you to take cover. Between each channel of this attack, he will stand there recovering for a very long time, so jump down and finish him off. You may need to go and take cover again before he is fully dead.

Phase 1:

Slam: The Spurned Progeny will slam down onto the ground in a seated position, before slowly getting back up. Dodging out of the blast radius will allow you plenty of time to punish the attack.

Shockwave: The Spurned Progeny will punch the ground, creating an expanding circle of fire that will deal high damage. Dodge forward through the ring as it gets close to avoid the damage.

Eruption: The Spurned Progeny will create a small glowing spot beneath you that will blow up after a very short period of time. He will do this three times, with the third being slightly delayed. You must dodge each one as soon as you see the glowing spot.

Ground Punch: If you stay beneath or in front of the Spurned Progeny, he will begin punching the ground in front of him repeatedly for high damage. Stay away from the area directly in front of him.

Melee Attacks: The Spurned Progeny can perform swipes and stomps when you are within range. These are easily dodged, and avoided altogether by only attacking to punish the Spurned Progeny's recovery from previous attacks.

Magma Vomit: Once you have dealt some damage to the Spurned Progeny, he will start performing an animation that looks like he is about to throw up. You must now leave the bottom area and move up the stairs to the platforms above. The entire bottom area will be filled with burning magma.

Phase 2:

Claw Slam: The Spurned Progeny will raise his hand high and slam it on the platform you are standing on. Dodge away at the last second, and then hit the hand. He can do this with either hand - his right (your left) will delay slightly longer than his left.

Claw Swipe: With much less warning than the claw slam, the Spurned Progeny will swipe with his claw from your right to your left across the platform. Dodge through this to avoid the damage. There is no opportunity to punish this attack.

Tongue Hand: The Spurned Progeny will lower his head down level with the platform you are on. Then, after a delay, the hand in his mouth will quickly scuttle forward towards you. Dodge at the last minute each time. If you stand still at first, you will know when to dodge because the head will quickly turn to look at you before each attack.

Shockwave: The Spurned Progeny will slam down on the platform with his tongue hand, creating a shockwave like you see in phase 1. Dodge forward through the expanding ring to avoid the damage.

Fire Nova: The Spurned Progeny's tongue hand will reach out and begin channelling a massive fireball. The entire time this is channelling, the burning status effect will build up on you, and will end with a giant explosion. You can avoid the burning buildup and the explosion by leaving the platform and standing behind one of the broken walls.
