ESO Alchemy Ingredients

Alchemy Reagents

The list of ingredients below shows the reagents that are available in The Elder Scrolls Online. When crafting alchemical potions and poisons, it is these ingredients that determine what effect the item will have.

To begin, you can only use 2 reagents for each batch that you craft. When you have unlocked Laboratory Use at Alchemy rank 15, you will be able to use 3 reagents. You can see a list of all Alchemy perks here.

Different reagents come from different locations. As you might expect, Beetle Scuttle can be harvested from defeated beetle-type enemies, such as Shalks and Assassin Beetles. Other reagents grow in different areas, such as mushrooms, which grow in woodland areas. If you play on PC, it is recommended that you use the HarvestMap addon by Shinni to make farming for alchemical ingredients much easier.

Some reagents are special, and can only be obtained by defeating a certain kind of high-tier enemy. Dragon Rheum, Dragon Blood and Dragon Bile all drop, as you might expect, from dragons in the Elsweyr region. Due to their powerful properties and rarity, they sell for a lot.

Alchemy Solvents

Alchemical solvents are used to determine what type and level your creation will be. Water-based solvents are used to create potions that you use on yourself as a consumable, whereas oil-based solvents are applied to your enemies after being slotted on your weapons.

As you might expect, water-based solvents are primarily found around bodies of water. Following streams and rivers, investigating lakes and travelling around coastal areas will allow you to find rippling water that can be harvested for water-based solvents. You can also get these from water pouches found in most locations that have NPCs.

Oil-based solvents are instead found from defeated enemies; typically animal based ones. Checking enemies as you travel through dungeons will net you plenty of oil-based solvents to use on poisons. You can find out more about Alchemy here.
