Best Strategy

King Morgott, Last of All Kings is a tricky boss to contend with if you don't know what you are going to be up against. He can attack in swift swipes, cover large distances, has strong ranged damage options, and can control large areas with high damage.

Strategy 1: Sorcerer

Morgott is quite good at avoiding ranged damage. He will often dodge attacks and respond with vicious swipes of his sword, dealing high damage and potentially catching you off guard. Spells with long cast times are also risky due to many of Morgott's fast attacks, such as his dagger throw.

The best way to deal with Morgott is to use the Night Comet sorcery, which counts as an invisible sorcery and is therefore boosted by off-handing the Staff of Loss. This can also be charged, meaning Night Comet is boosted by the Godfrey Icon, and deals magic damage, meaning the Magic Scorpion Charm and Graven Mass Talisman will boost its damage.

All of this along with high Intelligence will deal absolutely massive damage per hit, and Morgott won't over-use his swift dodging abilities. You can cast this in relative peace from a distance from the start of the fight, and it won't last long enough for you to worry about dodging much. You can even punish the transition into phase 2 where Morgott is stationary for a long time by pummelling him with Night Comets.

Strategy 2: Faith

Morgott is weak to most damage types, and is therefore susceptible to status effects. You can open the fight by using Rotten Breath to apply Scarlet Rot, which will render the fight all but won for you. Then, throughout the rest of the fight, focus on avoiding damage and making heavy use of the Swarm of Flies incantation, which will shred Morgott's health.

Strategy 3: Melee

If you go for heavy weapons, then go for poise breaking. You can use the Stonebarb Cracked Tear along with fully charged heavy attacks or jumping attacks to break Morgott's poise in just a few hits, leaving him vulnerable to a critical strike. Just be careful not to try to bully him during his transition between phases, as he will create an area explosion that deals a lot of damage.

If you prefer smaller weapons, the Antspur Rapier is particularly good here, especially if you infuse it with Poison so that it deals both Poison and Scarlet Rot buildup. Once these status effects are applied, it is mostly a game of waiting for Morgott to die while avoiding his attacks.

Movepool

Holy Spear: Morgott can use this summoned spear in a few ways. He may pull it back slightly before performing a poke, he may throw it at you after a long wind-up, or he may ready himself and charge forward, dealing many hits of damage. All of these are avoided in the same way: dodge sideways. It doesn't have great tracking and is easily avoided this way.

Holy Dagger: Again, Morgott can use this summoned weapon in a few different ways. He may slash quickly in front of him a couple of times, throw three daggers out in front of him to punish you for healing or staying too far away, or do a slash, jump and dagger throw to combo it all together. Melee slashes are avoided by dodging away from Morgott, and thrown daggers are avoided by dodging towards Morgott.

Holy Hammer: Morgott may summon a hammer that deals holy damage. He can perform a jumping attack with a slam that has a small area of effect around it, or combo it into his spinning sword attacks to deal high extra damage. All hammer attacks are avoided by dodging backwards.

Sword Swipes: Morgott is very mobile with his sword. He will either perform spinning slashes towards you, or perform long running lunges to reposition before attempting to hit you from the side or behind. He can combo these together to throw you off guard. At any time, dodge towards the sword to avoid it, or create as much distance as you can to get out of range. He may summon a holy sword to combo in with these attacks, used in the same way.

Rain of Swords: Morgott can fill almost the whole arena with swords in the sky that will then repeatedly fall down very rapidly over a prolonged period of time. Look up to find a gap in the swords before they start falling, and reposition to a safe spot.

Cursed Sword: In phase 2, Morgott's weapon will be infused with higher damage and bleed capabilities. He can slash projectiles with these which must be dodge forward through to avoid. He can perform all the same attacks as before, but will now be more mobile, and his sword will leave blood flame trails, dealing fire damage and bleed build up.

Weapons: Be warned that Morgott can perform special combos where he rapidly changes between his weapons for different movesets, all in the same combo. This makes him particularly challenging to fight in close-quarters, and fighting at range is far more practical.
