Dragon's Dogma 2 Trickster Vocation Logo

Find out how to unlock this Vocation and all others HERE

Welcome to the Trickster Vocation for Dragon's Dogma 2. Vocations are a very important factor that will determine the skills and weapons available to your character, influencing your overall approach to combat situations in Dragon's Dogma 2. Some Vocations and unique abilities can be unlocked by gaining the favour of Maisters. These are masters of their respective Vocations, and can be found in various locations around the world.

How to Use Effectively

The Trickster is a frontline combatant that is best used as a tank, albeit in an unfamiliar fashion compared to the role in other games. The Trickster should be used to disrupt opponents, creating more targets for them to attack among themselves and hindering their movement, while allowing for your team to make use of the extra damage bonus and attack from safety.

Weapon Skills

Sweeping Shroud:

By using the mystical censer, cast smoke in a broad area that will taunt enemies to attack it if they come into contact. Upgrade to Suffocating Shroud to increase the range and effectiveness.

Delusory Screen:

Create a wall of illusion magick that will prevent enemies from passing and block their line of sight. Upgrade to Illusive Divider to increase duration and allow two walls.

Aromatic Rally:

Create a smoke over an area that will increase the damage of all allies within. All allies gradually lose health, but continue fighting while this skill is active. Upgrade to Aromatic Resurgence to enhance duration and effect.

Espial Incense:

Allows the user to create a spectral copy of themselves that can be controlled to scout a long distance. Constantly consumes stamina. Upgrade to Visitant Aura to reduce the cost.

Fickle Floor:

Create a hovering surface that enemies will identify as a platform. They may attempt to use this and fall through. Upgrade to Tricky Terrace to increase duration and allow two surfaces.

Latching Effigy:

The user can send forth a spectral copy of themselves to possess a living enemy. Upgrade to Binding Effigy to increase the range and speed of the spectral copy.

Scented Alarum:

Consume stamina over time to detect enemies in the vicinity. Upgrade to Fragrant Alarum to decrease the stamina cost and increase the range of the enemy detection.

Dragon's Delusion:

Create a giant spectral dragon. This deals no damage in and of itself, but will strike fear in nearby enemies, causing them to stagger or run from battle. This allows for your team to regroup or changes the tides of a fight.

Core Skills

Beveiling Fumes:

Create a smoke that draws the aggression of contacting enemies to the caster. Upgrades to Drifting Brume, which increases the range.

Effigial Incense:

A standard attack of the Trickster that creates a spectral copy. This copy draws aggression from enemies, and can be slain. Remove the Simulacrum with Effigial Snuff, call it to you with Invoking Essence, or repair it with Mending Vapor.

Enthralling Aroma:

Grants the ability to possess a living enemy, causing it to take the aggression of other nearby enemies, resulting in opponents fighting each other.

Effigial Quickburn:

Boost the summoning speed of Simulacrums when using Effigial Incense, causing them to activate faster.

Trailing Aroma:

Increases the range of Trailing Aroma, allowing the smoke to drift further and effect enemies further away.

The Trickster is an interesting and very unique Vocation that is not designed to deal damage in the conventional sense. Instead, it can be used by the player in a somewhat tanking capacity, with the ability to completely incapacitate opponents and avoid damage as needed.

The Trickster Vocation has access to skills that can confuse enemies, causing them to attack nothing or even each other, causing them through various means to either cause their own deaths or become incredibly vulnerable to the rest of the team.

This Vocation also has access to some powerful utility skills that allows them to scout out a wider area, taunt enemies, find hostile targets in the vicinity, hinder movement with spectral surfaces, and even possess living opponents. All of this impressive toolkit comes at a cost - the Trickster deals almost no damage of its own.
